All YaleBoom Classes (’67-’73) are invited to join a panel presentation by the Yale Radio Alumni Group, highlighting the radical shift in programming that occurred in the late 60s and early 70s.
Key WYBC leaders from the era will share stories about how the programming decisions were made (and some tape from the programs!) An open discussion and Q&A will follow.
For those who don’t know (or can demo your Boomer status by not remembering**), the late 60s were at least as turbulent as today and WYBC changed the FM programming to reflect that.

Political leaders were falling to assassination; our G.I.s fought in the jungle while Americans at home battled for civil rights. Meanwhile, sex, psychedelics and social phenomena like the Summer of Love inspired new music that captured the changing times.
Yale was deeply involved in it all — and WYBC was first to push that music out to New Haven, driving the station to the top of the local ratings.
To recapture the spirit of those days, we’ve gathered several key people who kept WYBC on-air during the boiling summers of ’68 and ’69 to share their stories and insights. (The session is open to all, so invite your friends!)
